well to those of you that say the tools are expensive. if you can't afford
to buy them do what old school mechanics do make the tool your self form
the scrap you get.you seen what they look like find some thick wall tubing
or pipe and notch to fit.
Glotzery 2014-07-18 18:21:22
why the hell would you put your vice behind a car? thats stupid. it is
shaky and you are always scared to demage your care, as well as you need to
buy a special rod to attach it to it.

You can simply screw your vice to a wood table or a wood plate on wich u
stand while you work. As well as you do not need to buy any of those
tools, you can simply use some large pliers...

Actualy this looks like you are only doing advertising and nothing
helpfull.

I drain the gas from the tanks by using the propane for torches and
burners. Then remove the valves and drill a couple of large holes in the
tanks. Then I save them up till I have a truckload and take them in to be
"shredded."

THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY, Watch the other propane tank valve remove videos
to have a good laugh! THANKS for the Video!
Roman Dybala 2014-07-07 08:58:16
seems you could have done that with a shifting spanner
Christa Dasher 2014-07-04 04:06:01
Just a piece of advice, the 2nd tank you showed has an OPD valve on it,
which by opening it will not release the gas, nor will unscrewing the
bleeder valve release the gas completely. While I appreciate the video, I
have seen a lot of scrappers make dangerous mistakes with these tanks
because they are unaware of the product.
1962mrmongoman 2014-06-26 04:38:43
I just blast a few holes thru it with a 30- 30 or 45-70
john doe 2014-06-17 22:51:13
compleat waste of time just open the valve and grab it the claw in an
excovater crush it just drop it in the pile
xadamx 2014-06-07 22:58:02
in the uk we just knock the valve off with an hammer and let the gas empty
then put a few pick axe holes in them, job done.
thersten 2014-06-06 04:20:21
they are so much more useful to people, only an idiot would scrap them.
Jonathan Rogers 2014-05-22 17:24:11
and suburban propane demands the customer pay them 15.00_ per tand for them
to take them so the can recertify & use them & make 50.00 +_ off tanks ...

and ameri gas takes them for free ....
not worth the hastle for scrap metal __
MrMetalinyourhead 2014-04-17 00:15:02
I would just like to say I believe you are confusing the bleeder valve with
the pressure relief valve. And the POL's on the OPD valves have a safety
feature that will not allow gas to be released unless there is a connection
made. So definitely take out the bleeder valve to check for pressure on
these tanks.

I did it with a crescent wrench, cheater bar, and a crow bar to keep it
from spinning wedged against the concrete floor.

I don't know why you are showing us the Price list for. Other countries
have different prices and of course economics can fluctuate the prices
often. Great idea's for getting them Brass fittings off those tanks. Good
video man.
eurobimmer635 2014-03-28 16:25:11
totally not worth it unless you have truck loads of them. soooo not worth
it .
Gerry Clyde 2014-03-25 09:06:05
Neat
Joshua Gerou 2014-03-23 05:26:51
I just hook them up to the barbecue and make sure there empty, Then set
them up in the back yard and shoot each one with the ak a few times. Then
remove the valves. I have never had one explode or catch on fire. I also
dont do this with newer valved tanks, There worth way more then you would
ever get in scrap.
20dollarbet 2014-03-17 17:50:23
It seems to me that there are many more valuable uses for these tanks, that
would carry a significantly higher value than fetching _3 at the scrapper.
ie: Stoves, heaters, steamers, forge, as a component to generate
electricity, and more.
bos dad 2014-03-13 04:59:16
you would need to scrap 350 tanks to pay for your tools.
4nuk8r 2014-03-10 05:49:37
Just buy a tank bracket off a scrap forklift, and use a pipe wrench on the
valve. I fill them with water and hit them with a pick ax to make a place
to start the saw.

My dad just blew up the garage trying to do this good job.
kffive 2014-02-19 02:37:18
Great info TY.
BTW my old school scrap yard takes tanks with valves. I pick up a Medical
O2 tank with regulator still full of O2 for 7 bucks. Its only a few years
old.
KOOL place, you name it, it probably there.

Mike, I just meant as ( scabbybuttcrack ) pointed to a potential sharp
hazard. As you bend them out why not in or do you brake break them off.

Why not knock the cuts in ?
